Planning and Zoning Commission

Planning and Zoning Commission

The Commission is chaired by resident Patrick Skvoretz.

Commission Members are Sue Powers, Dick Magerl, Woody Palmer, Aurel Goglin, Hennie Reynders, and Mike Downes.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the first Thursday evening of each month at 6:30pm, except when the meeting falls on a holiday. The public is welcome at all meetings of the Village, but please call the Village Clerk to confirm the date.

The Bull Valley Planning and Zoning Commission is a seven member body charged with oversight and review of the Village’s Comprehensive Land Use and Preservation Plan and the planning process, as well as review and enforcement of the Bull Valley Zoning Ordinance that implements the Plan.

The Commission is currently working on a number of sub-plans, including a greenways plan and an affordable housing plan. The Commission is also charged with administration of the Village subdivision ordinance. Developers of land in the Village or its mile and half jurisdictional planning area, are first required to submit a sketch plan to the Commission to determine compliance with the ordinance.

Petitions for Rezoning, Variances and Special Uses all must come before this body. The ZBA reviews all these petitions for conformance to the Zoning Ordinance, holds public hearings and makes findings and recommendations to the full board on whether or not the petitioner’s request should be granted, modified or denied.

The Commission also is charged with hearing appeals from the decision of the building inspector, and updating the Zoning Ordinance as needed.

The Bull Valley Comprehensive Land Use and Preservation Plan and an addendum with supporting and research materials are available digitally by email request to bvvillageinfo@gmail.com. The Village subdivision ordinance and all other village ordinances are available at Village Hall for a nominal copy fee, by calling the Village Clerk ahead of pick up.
